MKT 'MAY'HEM: RECOVERY, SENSEX DOWN 457PTS

The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 133 points at 11,072. The index touched a high of 11,143, but soon slipped into negative zone.

Unabated selling saw the index hit the 10% lower limit at 9,827 - down 1,316 points from the day's high.

Trading resumed after a one-hour break, and the index bounced strongly to end at 10,482 - down 457 points.
