MRF up on expansion buzz

On BSE, 3,039 shares were traded in the counter. The scrip had average daily volumes of 1,851 shares in the past one quarter. The stock registered a 52-week high of Rs 8,955.55 on 1 November 2007 and a 52-week low of Rs 3,500 on 24 March 2008.

The mid-cap scrip outperformed the market over the past one month till 30 April, gaining 14.18 per cent compared to the Sensex's return of 10.63 per cent. It had underperformed the market in the past one quarter, declining 6.54 per cent compared to Sensex's 2.05 per cent.

 

The company will initially invest Rs 900 crore for ramping its radial tyre capacity by 3,50,000 radial tyres, with a plan to double the capacity at Perambulur, Trichy to 7,00,000 tyres in the second phase.

This facility has been planned to provide a major thrust to the production capacity, especially passenger and truck radials, to keep pace with the rising demand in the automobile industry, MRF said.
