Shares of Multi-system cable operators surged that the recent directive by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) would lead to better transparency and also aid improvement in revenues going forward.

Multi System Operators (MSOs) in Digital Addressable (DAS) Cable TV Systems areas should ensure delivery of individual subscriber bills, provide option for online bill payment and an electronic acknowledgement to the subscriber for the payment made, TRAI said in release issued on May 27, 2014.

This directive comes after the regulator in its inspections of some of the MSOs, discovered that compliance to the provisions of the regulations and directions related to the provision of bills and receipts to subscribers is not satisfactory, the release said.
