Shares of multiplexes zoomed on Tuesday on the back of Shah Rukh Khan’s Don 2 collecting close to Rs 50 crore on its opening weekend.
Fame India was the biggest gainer, seeing a jump of 20 per cent to Rs 40.85 on the Bombay Stock Exchange. It was followed by Inox Leisure, gaining 12.53 per cent to close at Rs 44. Besides, Cinemax India and Reliance MediaWorks jumped between 3 and 8 per cent.
According to entertainment analysts, the sharp movement was mainly on the back of Don 2 collections. The occupancy in theatres, according to reports, has been around 90 per cent. It released on 2,850 domestic screens, of which 500 prints were in 3D, besides 650 screens in 41 other countries.
“Further, there is a good set of movies in the pipeline which are being expected to do good once released,” said an analyst.
