Infosys has surged 5% to Rs 3,309. TCS has rallied 2.5% to Rs 1,814. Satyam has advanced 1.5% to Rs 730, and Wipro is up 1% to Rs 501.
Hindalco has spurted 1% to Rs 170.
HDFC has slipped over 3% to Rs 1,160. Bajaj Auto and Reliance Energy has dropped around 2.5% each to Rs 2,699 and Rs 443, respectively.
Maruti, NTPC, HLL, Tata Steel and Tata Motors are down over 2% each to Rs 771, Rs 114, Rs 230, Rs 504 and Rs 742, respectively.
The market breadth is extremely negative - out of 1,618 stocks traded so far, 1,200 have declined, 381 have advanced and 37 are unchanged.
