Mustard seed prices rose by Rs 2.85 to Rs 535.90 per 20 kg in future trading, following speculative buying by traders in tandem with firm spot markets sentiment.

Marketmen said upsurge in other edible oils and brisk demand from vanasapti units amid restricted supply in physical markets, mainly pushed up the future prices.

Reports of fall in mustard seed production overseas also helped in boosting the trading sentiments, they added.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustard seed price for the current month of July month contract rose by Rs 2.85 or 0.53 per cent to Rs 535.90 per 20 kg with an open interest of 33,540 lots.

Near August month contract also strengthened by Rs 2.10 or 0.39 per cent to Rs 542.60 per 20 kg, with an open interest of 1,18,200 lots.
