Mustardseed futures up on poor supplies

Mustardseed prices rose by Rs 4.25 or 0.82 per cent to Rs 523.70 per 20 kg in futures trade today on speculative buying by traders and restricted supply in spot markets.

Marketmen said pick up in demand from oil mills and less arrivals in physical markets, led to a rise in mustardseed futures prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustardseed prices for June-month contract went up by Rs 4.25, or 0.82 per cent to Rs 523.70 per 20 kg, with an open interest of 64,380 lots.

Most active July-month contract also moved up by Rs 4.45 or 0.85 per cent to Rs 530.75 per 20 kg, with an open interest of 90,490 lots.
