Mustardseed futures prices dropped by Rs 2.65, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 522.45 per 20 kg today on profit booking by traders amid weak spot demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustardseed for July-month contract fell by Rs 2.65, or 0.50 per cent, to Rs 522.45 per 20 kg, with an open interest of 1,02,150 lots.

Similarly, mustardseed for delivery in August-month contract slipped by Rs 2.70, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 528.35 per 20 kg, with an open interest of 75,040 lots.

Marketmen said profit taking by speculators, triggered by weak demand and increased arrivals in the spot markets pulled down the mustardseed futures prices.
