Given the weak undercurrents in the markets, Smart Portfolios, too, witnessed significant value erosion across the fund managers' net worth. The nervousness in the markets was also reflected in the trading pattern during the last five days, with just 15 trades executed. Interestingly, thanks largely to Shishir Bajpai, the fund managers were net buyers of stocks to the tune of Rs 7.68 lakh. The Smart Portfolios' benchmark S&P CNX 500 index's net worth dropped 4.6 per cent to Rs 10.23 lakh and the same is now up just 2.3 per cent from the initial corpus of Rs 10 lakh at the start Smart Portfolios season-III on September 1. Meanwhile, fund managers this week logged losses of 1-6 per cent each.
Ajay Parmar
Ajay Parmar executed just one trade last week. Parmar bought Torrent Pharma for a consideration of Rs 89,850. His net worth declined 3.8 per cent to Rs 10.02 lakh, and is now almost at a break-even point owing to heavy losses in Gitanjali Gems, Manali Petrochem and sugar stocks like Bajaj Hindusthan, Shree Renuka and Balrampur Chini. He continues to hold significant gains in select mid-cap investments - eClerx Services, Jubilant Foodworks, Greaves Cotton and Aurobindo Pharma. Parmar still holds Rs 2.84 lakh in cash.
