The production of natural rubber in the country declined by 7.6 per cent to 82,000 tonnes during the month of October 2010, the Rubber Board said in a statement.
India's production of natural rubber stood at 88,775 tonnes in October 2009, the board said.
"The decrease in production was due to the excessive rain during the month of October 2010. The production in major producing countries like Thailand and Indonesia also decreased due to the torrential rain," Rubber Board said in a statement.
The cumulative production of rubber during the first seven months (April-October) of current fiscal grew by 4.5 per cent to 437,400 tonnes.
Natural rubber consumption in the country during this October grew to 81,500 tonnes as against 77,950 tonnes in the same period last year.
