<b>Nearing 20K:</b> Sensex up 679pts; L&amp;T, BHEL soar

The Sensex is now up 679 points at 19,922.

Larsen & Toubro has zoomed 10% to Rs 4,265. BHEL has soared nearly 9% to Rs 2,642.

ONGC has surged over 6% to Rs 1,229. HDFC Bank has rallied 5.5% to Rs 1,630.

HDFC has moved up nearly 4% to Rs 2,665. Reliance and Maruti have added 3.7% each to Rs 2,792 and Rs 1,225, respectively.

ICICI Bank has advanced 3.5% to Rs 1,226. SBI, Reliance Energy and NTPC have gained around 3% each at Rs 2,152, Rs 1,720 and Rs 235, respectively.

Tata Steel has plunged 9% to Rs 901.

Out of 2,764 stocks traded so far, 1,626 have advanced, 1,059 have declined and 79 are unchanged.
