The markets continued their upward journey backed by positive global cues amid renewed optimism. The Smart Portfolios benchmark, the BSE 200 index surged 3.4 per cent (40 points) to 1,211. Fund managers once again under-performed the benchmark with gains in the range 0.2-2.2 per cent, each. However, they continue to out-perform the benchmark if returns since the inception of Smart Portfolios on September 1, 2008 is taken into consideration.

While, the benchmark is down over 32 per cent, Anand Agarwal with a loss of almost 11 per cent has seen the biggest drop in his net worth. Kashyap Pujara's net worth is down 8.4 per cent, and Sadanand Shetty's portfolio value has depreciated by 5.4%. Amar Ambani, however, has a net gain over 1 per cent.

Last week, the fund managers’ approach remained mostly subdued, with just 14 trades of which just five were on the buy side. Amar Ambani remained on the sidelines; Kashyap Pujara and Sadanand Shetty were sellers in the market, while Anand Agarwal was a net buyer. Cumulatively, they bought shares worth Rs 33,000.
