Net worth soars on market rally

In a surprise rally, the markets have gained seven per cent in the last seven trading days. During this time, the S&P CNX index has appreciated by 5.3 per cent, thereby resulting in a net gain of Rs 53,000 to the Smart Portfolios benchmark net worth. The money managers, too, have logged in gains in the range of five-seven per cent each over the week.

AJAY PARMAR, HEAD RESEARCH - INSTITUTIONAL EQUITIES, EMKAY
Ajay Parmar continued to remain on the sidelines, while his portfolio has appreciated 5.4 per cent in the net worth. Torrent Pharma, eClerx Services and Jubilant Foodworks hold the highest weightage in his portfolio, while Walchandnagar Industries, Manali Petrochemical and Deepak Fertilisers the least. Parmar’s net worth stands at Rs 10.11 lakh and he holds Rs 1.12 lakh cash.

 

SHISHIR BAJPAI, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, IIFL PRIVATE WEALTH
Shishir Bajpai continued to remain the most active fund manager, with around 25 trades. His total buy and sell were almost on par, as he continues to churn his portfolio. Some of his prominent fresh buys are Castrol India, Titan, Suzlon, TIL, Oracle Financial, Max India, IRB Infrastructure and IDFC. On the sell-side trades, Bajpai booked decent gains of 5- 18 per cent on investments in Delta Corp, Prime Focus, LIC Housing Finance and Orchid Chemicals. However, he lost 4-10 per cent on exiting from GTL, Timken India, Reliance Infrastructure, Sintex Industries and Bajaj Finserv. Bajpai continues to remain fully invested, and after 7.4 per cent surge this week, his net worth now stands higher at Rs 13.54 lakh, up 35.4 per cent.

VINAY KHATTAR, RESEARCH HEAD - EDELWEISS WEALTH MANAGEMENT
Having raised significant cash in the preceding week, Vinay Khattar was quick to invest the cash back into the markets by 14 buy-side trades. He invested over Rs 1 lakh each into VIP Industries, Adani Enterprises, Raymond and V-Guard. In all, he bought shares worth Rs 9.32 lakh. Khattar’s current top three holdings are also his best performing stocks - Delta Corp, Shree Renuka Sugars and TTK Prestige. His net worth has now moved up to Rs 12.81 lakh, up 6.1 per cent for the week, and up 28 per cent since its inception. Khattar, too, is now fully invested.
