Is life worth living? Well, it depends on the liver! And how much you may have to pay for replacing a faulty one?

It is estimated that around 70 million people in India are afflicted with some form of liver infection or the other owing to Hepatitis B or C, alcoholism and other causes (metabolic, auto-immune or drug-relate).

Of these millions, even taking a conservative estimate, the number of people needing liver transplants will run into a few thousands. Only a handful can afford to even think of a transplant.

Until recently, that is. Hyderabad, which is fast emerging not only as the healthcare hub of India, is now focusing on multi-organ transplantation capabilities that are on par with hospitals anywhere.

 

Global Hospitals, a city-based hospital, has managed to dramatically cut down costs of liver transplantation to a fraction of international levels.
