Nickel futures fell 0.37% to Rs 871.50 per kg today as speculators trimmed their positions amid a weak trend at the spot market on sluggish demand from alloy-makers.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in August traded Rs 3.20, or 0.37%, lower at Rs 871.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 405 lots.

The September contract declined by Rs 2.70, or 0.36%, to Rs 8,882 per kg, with a business turnover of 40 lots.

Marketmen said weakness in copper and other base metals overseas and sluggish domestic demand from alloy-makers put pressure on nickel futures.
