Amid weak trend overseas and sluggish domestic demand, nickel futures prices moved down by 1.39 per cent to Rs 1,277.50 per kg today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for February moved down by Rs 18, or 1.39 per cent, to Rs 1,277.50 per kg, with a trade volume of 11 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in March weakened by Rs 17.20, or 1.32 per cent, to Rs 1,283.70 per kg, with a trade volume of just one lot.

Market analysts said weak trend in the base metals at the London Metal Exchange on concerns that rising geo-political tensions may affect the global economic recovery, mainly put pressure on the nickel futures prices here.

Meanwhile, at the London Metal Exchange, nickel decreased 0.5 per cent to $28,500 per tonne.
