Nickel futures traded marginally lower by 0.09 per cent as speculators kept their positions restricted ahead of monthly expiry.
Weak trend in copper and other base metals overseas also weighed on the nickel futures prices here.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in April traded Rs 1.10, or 0.09 per cent, lower at Rs 1,187.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 373 lots.
The metal for delivery in March fell by 70 paise, or 0.06 per cent, to Rs 1,176.80 per kg, with a business volume of 2,574 lots.
Market analysts said a weak trend in copper and other base metals overseas along with off-loading of pending positions by speculators led to the decline in nickel futures prices.
