Buoyed by the firm demand at spot markets and strong trend overseas, nickel futures prices rose by 0.56 per cent, to Rs 1,081.70 per kg today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, nickel for delivery in November traded Rs 6, or 0.56 per cent higher, to Rs 1,081.70 per kg, with a turnover of three lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in December also moved up by Rs 5.90, or 0.54 per cent, to Rs 1,092.10 per kg, with a turnover of just one lot.

Market analysts said strong demand from alloy makers at domestic spot markets and firm trend in copper and other base metals, led to a rise in nickel futures prices here.
