Nickel prices rose by Rs 5.20, or 0.57 per cent, to Rs 913 per kg in futures trade today, as traders enlarged their positions, supported by a good demand for the metal at spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for current-month June contract rose by Rs 5.20, or 0.57 per cent to Rs 913 per kg, with an open interest of 15,741 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in July contract gained Rs 4.60, or 0.50 per cent to Rs 918.10 per kg, with an open interest of 2,387 lots.

Analysts said fresh buying by speculators, supported by a pick up in demand from domestic alloy makers led to a rise in nickel prices at futures trade.
