Buoyed by pick up in domestic spot demand and a firm global trend, nickel futures prices rose by 0.41 per cent today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, nickel for delivery in December rose by Rs 4.40, or 0.41 per cent to Rs 1,071.30 per kg, with a business turnover of just one lot.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in January contract edged higher by Rs 4.10, or 0.38 per cent to Rs 1,081 per kg, with a trade volume of three lots.

Market analysts said pick up in demand from alloy makers at the domestic spot markets amid a firm trend overseas led the rise in nickel futures prices.
