Nickel futures prices fell by Rs 2.40 to Rs 907.40 per kg today owing to slackened demand from alloy-makers and reports of a weakening global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in December declined by Rs 2.40, or 0.26%, to Rs 907.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 9,281 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in January traded lower by the same margin to Rs 915.60 per kg in 544 lots.

Market analysts said apart from sluggish demand from alloy-makers in the spot market and weak trend in overseas markets mainly led to fall in nickel futures prices.

Meanwhile, nickel lost 1.1% to $17,300 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
