Amid profit-booking by speculators and a weak trend overseas, nickel futures prices fell by 0.48 per cent to Rs 1,067.40 per kg today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, nickel for December delivery fell by Rs 5.20, or 0.48 per cent to Rs 1,067.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 2,040 lots.

Similarly, the contract for January delivery of the metal traded Rs 5.10, or 0.47 per cent down at Rs 1,077.40 per kg, with a turnover of 195 lots.

Marketmen said apart from profit-booking by speculators, a weak trend in copper and other base metals on the London Metal Exchange (LME), as a rally in dollar reduced appeal for commodities as an alternative investment and sluggish demand at spot markets, weighed heavily on nickel futures prices here.
