Supported by a firming global trend and pick-up in domestic demand, nickel prices gained 0.59% to Rs 994.40 per kg in futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in April added Rs 5.80, or 0.59%, to Rs 994.40 per kg in business turnover of 130 lots.
The March contract gained by Rs 5.70, or 0.58%, to Rs 984.10 per kg in 2,561 lots.
Analysts said apart from a firming global trend, increased demand from alloy-makers in the spot markets mainly led to the rise in nickel prices at trade.
Meanwhile, nickel was up 1.4% to $19,763 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
