Nickel futures for April rose by Rs 3.10, or 0.38% to Rs 828.10 per kg in 3,738 lots.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the May contract traded higher by Rs 2.70, or 0.32% to Rs 834.60 per kg in 858 lots.
Prices gained as speculators enlarged their positions driven by pick up spot market demand from alloy-makers.
On the London Metal Exchange (LME), nickel climbed 0.7% to $15,370 per tonne.
