Extending gains for the second consecutive session, nickel prices soared 0.56 per cent at Rs 1,075.60 per kg in futures trade today on strong spot demand amid firming trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, the metal for delivery in December contract traded Rs 6, or 0.56 per cent higher at Rs 1,075.60 per kg, with a turnover of just 5 lots.

Similarly, nickel for delivery in January month contract edged up by Rs 5.30, or 0.49 per cent to Rs 1,085.70 per kg, with a turnover of two lots.

Market analysts said the rise in copper and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange and a firm demand in the domestic market mainly influenced nickel futures prices here.
