Nickel futures for April gained Rs 3.970, or 0.44%, to Rs 885.20 per kg in 594 lots.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), th May contract rose by Rs 3.60, or 0.40%, to Rs 893.90 per kg in 42 lots.
Prices moved up after speculators enlarged their position amid increased spot market demand from alloy-makers.
Besides, firming trend in the base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange (LME) also supported the upside.
