Nickel futures rose 0.88% today on strong domestic demand from alloy-makers and a firm trend in the overseas markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in April rose by Rs 8.70, or 0.88%, to Rs 1,001.80 per kg, with a business turnover of 74 lots.

The March contract gained Rs 7.70, or 0.78%, to Rs 990.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,361 lots.

At the London Metal Exchange (LME), nickel advanced by 0.9% to $19,950 per tonne in early trade today.

Analysts said besides strong demand from domestic alloy- makers, reports of a firm trend in the metal at LME, pushed up nickel prices at futures trade here.
