The Sensex is now up 113 points at 17,034. The index opened with a positive gap of 139 points at 17,060, and soon surged to a high of 17,158. REL has rallied 5.75% to Rs 1,085. ONGC and Infosys have advanced more than 3% each to Rs 968 and Rs 1,885 respectively. ACC is up nearly 3% at Rs 1,189. Whereas Satyam and Cipla have gone up more than 2% to Rs 441, and Rs 174. M&M, TCS, Hindalco and Maruti Udyog are all up more than 1%. Hindustan Unilever has shed more than 1% to Rs 222. Grasim Industries and Ambuja Cements are marginally down. The NSE Nifty has crossed the 5000-mark for the first time ever. It is now up 35 points at 4,975. It had taken 230 days for Nifty to move from 4,000 to 5,000. But just about 52 days to move from 4,500 to 5,000. |
