Markets continue to trade listless with the Sensex currently at 20,019 gaining 26 points while the Nifty is flat at 6,008.
In the broader markets, the smallcap and the midcp index is down 1% each. The BSE benchmark index is out performing after days of underperformance. It is currently at 0.04% in the negative.
In the Asian markets after opening in the green, except KLSE Composite, all the indices are in the positive.Nikkei is flat at 10,178 while Hang Seng is up 0.05%. Jakarta Composite, Straits Times, Seoul Composite and Taiwan Weighted have gained between 0.1% - 0.4%
On the BSE sectoral charts, IT up 0.9% leads the pack followed by Auto and Oil & Gas gaining 0.8% and 0.4% respectively. All the other indices have slipped into the red. Realty index after two days of good run has slipped to languish at the bottom of the chart, losing 3%. Consumer Durables, Bankex and Metal down 2% and 1% respectively are the other major losers on the chart.
Hindustan Unilever and Bharti Airtel up 2% each are the top gainers on the Sensex followed by Hero Honda, Cipla, Mahindra & Mahindra, Wipro and Infosys gaining 1% each.
The losers on the Sensex are DLF, Reliance Infrastructure, Sterlite and Jaiprakash Associates down 2% each are the top losers. Tata Steel and Reliance Communications losing 1% each are the other noteable losers.
The market breadth is negative. 1911 scrips have declined while 864 advanced.
