Non-Basmati Export Price Gets Mixed Reactions

The new export price for non-Basmati rice fixed by the government has drawn a lukewarm response from the traders.

While some feel that the price between Rs 5,650 - Rs 6,000 per tonne is expected to give the much needed fillip to rice exports, others say exports may not pick up significantly even at that price as the grain quality is not very good and global demand is suppressed.

Gurnam Arora, president of the All India Rice Exporters Association (AIREA), told Business Standard,
