The National Spot Exchange Ltd (NSEL) has inducted five independent directors into its board. The new members have brought with them experience in various fields. The company has appointed Uttam Prakash Agarwal, Amarendra Sahoo, Niraj Gupta, Subramanya Kusnur and Varghese Jacob as independent directors and Ashok Nag as non-executive director to its board.
Agarwal, founder of Uttam Prakash Agarwal Chartered Accountants Academy (UPACA) holds an honorary membership of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia and CPA Australia and was a member of Disciplinary Committee of Institute of Actuary of India as a government nominee appointed by the Ministry of Finance.
Agarwal is also a member of India- UK (Indo-UK) Task force on Corporate Affairs and the Task Force of Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Government of India, to provide professional and technical support to the DPE in the process of finalization of MoU documents. He has also been instrumental in the revival of Satyam during the financial crisis faced by the company.

Kusnur comes with a domain expertise in BFSI, IT and Public Affairs in both Public and Private sectors, domestically and internationally. He has also been Involved in developing a comprehensive strategy for a nationwide project enabling financial inclusion of rural masses leveraging a Mobile Transaction Platform.
For his outstanding contributions, the Martin O’Malley, Governor of Maryland, USA, honored Kusnur with a Global Leadership Award in 2008.
