NTPC gains on Talcher plant synchronisation

NTPC rose 4.79 per cent to Rs 98.35, coinciding with the synchronisation of the 500 mw unit-6 at Talcher Super Thermal Power Station on Monday.

"With the commercial operation of this unit, the total installed and commercial capacity of Talcher Super Thermal Power Station is 3,000 mw," a dealer said.

The government's decision to transfer the assets of Dabhol Power Project to a joint venture of NTPC and GAIL also weigh in favour of the former. NTPC board has already cleared investment of Rs 500 crore in the JV company called Ratnagiri Gas and Power (India) Pvt Ltd.
