Shares of NTPC have jumped 1.7% to Rs 132.35 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) after NTPC announced that it is exploring solar energy projects in Uttar Pradesh.
The public sector power generation company is undertaking the solar energy projects to boost its green energy profile and meet renewable energy targets. The company is looking at targeting 10,000 MW of renewable energy by 2022.
Currently, NTPC plants supply nearly 25% or 4,344 mw of the total energy consumption in UP.
The stock opened at Rs 129.10 and touched a high of Rs 132.70. At 10:30 am, a combined total of 622,426 shares changed hands on the counter of NSE and BSE.
