Oct futures look up

 The turnover on the National Stock Exchange touched an all-time high at Rs 12,846.33 crore. Of this, Nifty futures recorded a volume of Rs 2,680.35 crore and Nifty options Rs 259.51 crore. Turnover on stock options touched Rs 1385.33 crore and Rs 8521.15 crore on stock futures.

 Nifty futures witnessed a premium of three to six points to the underlying index. October Nifty futures rose 13.70 to settle at 1517.80, while the NSE S&P CNX Nifty closed at 1516.85.

 November Nifty futures surged 19.90 points to close at 1523.00. In Nifty options, October calls at 1500 witnessed hectic action with 1426 contracts traded.

 Other calls in action included were 1520 and 1510. Nifty put at 1500 was the top trade in puts. Many stocks added positions in the futures segment above the rollover in the November series.

 The major ones are ACC (added eight lakh shares, rolled over 25 lakh shares), BSES (added 2.5 lakh shares, rolled over 2.5 lakh shares), HPCL (added four lakh shares, rolled over 20 lakh shares) Telco (added ten lakh shares, rolled over 18 lakh shares), Tisco (added four lakh shares, rolled over 24 lakh shares) and Satyam (added seven lakh shares, rolled over 14 lakh shares).

 Implied volatility in stocks is expected to fall after the announcement of results by their companies.
