Oil rise dents US mkt gains, Infosys up 3%

US indices ended with modest gains yesterday even though oil prices rose nearly 4%. While the Dow Jones added 10 points to 10,523, the Nasdaq was up six points at 2,069.

Indian ADRs, however, gained strength on the US bourses, with select counters ending weak. Infosys rose 3.12% to $73.68, while Satyam advanced 2.48% to $25.21. Wipro, however, ended weak at $21.48.

HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, VSNL and MTNL gained 2% each to $45.51, $22.14, $10.46 and $6.91, respectively. While Dr. Reddy's finsihed marginally up at $16.312, Tata Motors closed in the red at $9.63.
