The government of India has pegged total oilseeds production as on October 17 at 194.94 lakh hectare as compared to 177.66 lakh ha last year, up by 17.28 lakh ha. Kharif oilseed crop is estimated at 169.05 lakh tonnes for 2013-14 against 151.83 lakh tonnes last year.
Oilseed yield has increased to 867 kgs per ha this year from 855 kg per ha last year, The Central Organisation for Oil & Trade Industry said in a press release.
This year, despite the area under soybean being on the higher side soybean production is impacted due to rainfall towards the end of September and beginning of October. The quality and quantity of the crop is impacted. This year production is estimated to be around 107 lakh tonnes compared to 113.40 lakh tonnes last year.

Rice bran oil production estimated at 930,000 tonnes during 2013-14 compared to 900,000 tonnes during 2012-13.
Local palm oil production is estimated at 110,000 tonnes for the current year against last year 80,000 tonnes.
Maize oil production is increasing in the country hence shown separately from minor oils and estimated at 50,000 tonnes for the current year.
Vegetable oil available from kharif oilseeds crop and the secondary sources are estimated at 58.03 lakh tonnes compared to last year’s 52.65 lakh tonnes up by 5.38 lakh tonnes.
