Orchid Chemicals and Pharmaceutical is locked in upper circuit of 10% at Rs 52.65 after the company said its oral formulations facility at Irungattukottai near Chennai was successfully inspected and accepted by the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) without any observations.

The stock opened at Rs 48.65 and hit a low of Rs 47.80 on BSE. A combined 1.6 million shares have changed hands on the counter so far and there are pending buy orders for around 72,000 shares on BSE and NSE at 1400 hours.
