Orchid Chemicals rises on USFDA approval for Eszopiclone tablet

The stock has gained 6% to Rs 76 after the company said it has received USFDA approval for Eszopiclone tablets, used for the treatment of insomnia.

Orchid Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals has surged 6% to Rs 76 on BSE after the company said it has received US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) approval for Eszopiclone tablets.

The company has received approval from US FDA for its ANDA (abbreviated new drug application) for Eszopiclone tablets, 1mg, 2mg and 3mg strengths, Orchid Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, the Chennai-based pharma company said in a regulatory filing.

Eszopiclone is used for the treatment of insomnia.

The stock opened at Rs 75.50 and touched a high of Rs 77.65 in early morning deals on BSE. A combined 2.57 million shares changed hands on the counter so far on BSE and NSE.
