Orchid Chemicals up on resuming production at Chennai plant

Orchid Chemicals has rallied 2.9% to Rs 208 after the company reported that it will resume production in its API plant in Chennai.

The company said in a filing to the BSE that its cephalosporin API manufacturing located in Alathur, Chennai has been re-opened and the production would commence immediately. Earlier, the plant had to be shut down after it received a closure notice from the Tamil Nadu pollution control board.

The stock opened at Rs 204 and touched the high of Rs 213 in intra-day deals. As many as 2,61,000 shares have changed hands till 1040 hours.
