The stock prices of companies manufacturing copper or copper related products have zoomed up in recent times. Stocks shot up by as much as 148 per cent on the top side and 19.12 per cent on the bottom side.
In last three months since October 1, the stock price of Binani Industries jumped from Rs 19.10 to close at Rs 36.35 on the Bombay Stock exchange (BSE) yesterday, up 90.31 per cent.
During the same period, share price of Hindustan Copper gained from Rs 34 to Rs 40.5, or 19.12 per cent, while Hindustan Zinc shot up from Rs 66 to Rs 142.7, a gain of 116.2 per cent.
Precision Wire strengthened from Rs 38 To Rs 62.05, or 63.29 per cent, while Ram Ratna Wires increased from Rs 7.15 to Rs 12.31, gaining 72.17 per cent and Shivalik Bimtel appreciated from Rs 50 to Rs 99, by 98 per cent.
Sterlite Industries soared from Rs 636.5 to Rs 1458.65, up 129.2 per cent.
In the last three months the copper prices also have zoomed up on the national and international markets.
In 2003, the domestic price of copper wire bar has jumped from Rs 121.50 to Rs 162 till date, a rise of 33 per cent.
