Rising demand from domestic consumers and industries such as automobiles are the major factors driving up growth in the sector, feel analysts. Besides, paint companies are also looking at overseas markets to accelerate growth.
The Hardcastle & Waud scrip went up 107.20 per cent from Rs 91.70 to Rs 190. Other major gainers were Jenson & Nicholson, up 71.51 per cent and Snowcem India, up 62 per cent.
Paint majors such as Goodlass Nerolac and Asian Paints have also made significant gains. While Goodlass Nerolac rose 17.24 per cent, from Rs 580 to Rs 680, Asian Paints appreciated 13.28 per cent, from Rs 411.55 to Rs 466.20.
Shalimar Paints was up 17.17 per cent, from Rs 78.90 to Rs 92.45 and Berger Paints was up 7.74 per cent, from Rs 59.95 to Rs 64.59. Berger Paints and Goodlass Nerolac have posted around five per cent gains in Friday
