Partial Recovery: Sensex down 592pts

The Sensex has recovered partially from the day's low of 17,443, and is now down 592 points at 17,770.

The NSE Nifty is down 215 points at 5,168.

SBI has tumbled 7% to Rs 2,238. Reliance Communications and Infosys have slumped around 6% each to Rs 626 and Rs 1,431, respectively.

DLF, BHEL and Bharti Airtel have plunged around 5.5% each to Rs 892, Rs 2,049 and Rs 866, respectively.

ONGC, Wipro, Reliance and NTPC have shed around 5% each at Rs 964, Rs 408, Rs 2,481 and Rs 211, respectively.

HDFC Bank and TCS have dropped 4.7% each to Rs 1,524 and Rs 840, respectively.

Tata Motors, Tata Steel and Larsen & Toubro are down around 4% each at Rs 683, Rs 686 and Rs 3,740, respectively.

Out of 2,629 stocks traded so far, 2,150 have declined, 450 have advanced and 29 are unchanged.
