The heavy rains this year have been a boon for the economy, but for many collectors, the high humidity factor, particularly in non-coastal regions, has had an adverse fallout.
Manuscripts, lithos, works of art, even furniture and textiles have been catastrophically affected.
Therefore, this is a good time to clean up behind paintings and other mounted works, and to air textiles, give furniture a good scrub, and do a thorough check for mould as well as woodworm and insect larvae.
Remember, the most damage may have occurred to a collectible in the initial years when the caring may have been cursory at best.
Over the years, if stored in poor conditions, the harm inflicted may be irretrievable.
