Pepper futures extend losses on profit booking

Pepper futures prices fell by Rs 192 to Rs 21,150 per quintal today, as traders reduced their positions at prevailing higher levels.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, pepper for delivery in November declined by Rs 192, or 0.90 per cent, to Rs 21,150 per quintal, with an open interest in 8,327 lots. 

Similarly, December contract fell by Rs 149, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 21,420 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,811 lots, while January delivery eased by Rs 98, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 21,657 per quintal, with open interest of 374 lots. 

 
Marketmen said profit booking by speculators and weak trend at the spot markets on sluggish demand, weighed on the pepper futures prices.
