Pepper futures marginally up

Pepper prices rose by Rs 54 or 0.34 per cent to Rs 15,923 per quintal in futures market today on pick up in demand at the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, pepper for delivery in June contract gained Rs 54, or 0.34 per cent to Rs 15,923 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,581 lots.

Similarly, the spice for July contract traded higher by Rs 53, or 0.33 per cent to Rs 16,175 per quintal, with a business volume of 9,643 lots.

Analysts said pick up in demand at physical markets led to a rise in pepper futures prices.
