Pepper futures soften on fall in demand

Pepper prices moved down by Rs 67 to Rs 22,655 per quintal in futures market today on fall in domestic and exports demand against adequate stocks.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, pepper for January contract fell by Rs 67, or 0.29 per cent to Rs 22,655 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,394 lots. 

Similarly, the spice for delivery in December traded lower by Rs 58, or 0.26 per cent to Rs 22,444 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,916 lots.

Analysts said fall in pepper prices was mostly attributed to subdued domestic and exports demand.
