Pepper prices rose by Rs 207 to Rs 27,841 per quintal in futures trading today on fresh buying by speculators on expectations of a rise in demand.
At the National Commodity Derivatives Exchange, September contract for pepper rose by Rs 207, or 0.75%, to Rs 27,841, with an open interest of 699 lots.
Similarly, the July contract for the spice moved up by Rs 145, or 0.54%, to Rs 27,130 in 7,018 lots.
Market analysts said fresh buying by speculators on hopes of a rise in demand mainly pushed up pepper prices at futures trade.
