Pepper gains on improved demand

Black pepper prices firmed up in an otherwise steady spices market here today due to increased offtake from stockists and retailers amid export demand.

Black pepper moved up by Rs 5 per kilo to Rs 295/325 from its overnight closing level of Rs 295/320. 

Following are today's closing rates in Rs with the previous rates in brackets: 

Black pepper (per kg) 295/325 (295/320), ginger bleached (per kg) 175 (175), ginger unbleached (per kg) 205 (205), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 7,000 (7,000)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,850 (6,850), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 9,100 (9,100) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,850 (7,850)
