Pepper, jeera down on sluggish demand

Black pepper and jeera prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal each in the national capital today on sluggish demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.

Black pepper fell by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 20,600- 20,700 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality traded lower at Rs 13,500-13,700 and Rs 14,700-15,200 per quintal, respectively.
    
Traders said sluggish demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks mainly pulled down pepper and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
    
Following are today's quotations (per quintal):
    
Ajwain 13,500-19,000, black pepper common 20,600-20,700 betelnut (kg) 85-105, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 650-700 and cardamom brown -Kanchicut (kg) 725-825.
    
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,080-1,180, cardamom (colour robin) 1,080-1,090, cardamom bold 1,100-1,115, cardamom extra (bold) 1,380-1,400 and cloves (kg) 300-370.
