Pepper, jeera fall on subdued demand

Black pepper and jeera prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today owing to weak local and export demand.

Black pepper fell by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 21,100-21,200 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality prices also declined to Rs 12,900-13,200 and Rs 14,000-14,500 against previous closing of Rs 13,000-13,300 and Rs 14,100-14,600 per quintal. 

Marketmen said reduced offtake by stockists and exporters at existing higher levels mainly pulled down the pepper and jeera prices.

Following are today's quotations (per quintal):

Ajwain 13,500-18,000, black pepper common 21,100-21,200 betelnut (kg) 98-120, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 700-725 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 800-920

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 850-950, cardamom (colour robin) 925-980, cardamom bold 930-990, cardamom extra (bold) 1050-1,100 and cloves (kg) 300-380
